The Wilder Kaiser is one of the most impressive hiking regions in Tyrol - and is also part of one of the most famous long-distance hiking trails in the Alps: the Adlerweg. Three of its 33 stages lead through the imposing Kaiser Mountains, which impress with striking peaks, rugged rock faces and spectacular views.
The Tyrolean long-distance hiking trail owes its name to its highly symbolic shape: If you look at the route on the map, it is reminiscent of the silhouette of a flying eagle with outstretched wings. In the spirit of this majestic bird, hikers experience Tyrol from its most impressive side - from the heights, with far-reaching views, freedom and closeness to nature. What makes the Eagle Walk so special? Each stage combines an eagle alpine story, an eagle kick (additional challenge) and an eagle view (special view).
in 2025, the Adlerweg celebrates its 20th anniversary, and on 24 June , the Wilder Kaiser will be celebrating this special anniversary in style: with a unique special tour, exciting insights into the Alpine stories and an atmospheric film evening at the Gaudeamushütte, the event will be duly celebrated.
The exclusive special tour of the Kaiserdurchschreitung from north to south starts early in the morning, led by the two experienced mountain guides Gebi Bendler and Andy Schonner. Along the way, they share exciting knowledge and alpine anecdotes: Where do the illustrious summit names actually come from? What's the story behind the mountaineer's grave? And what makes the legendary VII degree of difficulty so special? These and many other questions will be answered right where they happened, culminating in the evening with the lecture "Adlerweg - Alpingeschichten am Wilden Kaiser" at the Gaudeamushütte. Rare historical sequences and anecdotes by Balthasar Hinterholzer will be shown, documenting mountain life and the alpine history of the region in an impressive way.further information and registration options for the anniversary events can be found under this link.
