The new chairman of the Federation of Tyrolean Tourism Managers sees sustainability and digitalisation as central topics of his first term of office.

The Tyrolean regional group of the "Federation of Austrian Tourism Managers" (BÖTM) elected its new chairman on 10 January 2023: Lukas Krösslhuber, Managing Director of the Wilder Kaiser Tourism Association, will take over this task with immediate effect. He will be assisted on the board for the next three years by deputy Petra Fraune (TVB Tiroler Zugspitz Arena), treasurer Dietmar Walser (TVB Kaunertal), secretary Martin Friede (TVB Region Hall-Wattens), Sabine Mair (TVB Kufsteinerland) and Markus Kofler (TVB Alpbachtal). Michael Keller (TVB Tannheimer Tal) and the former BÖTM-Tirol chairman Josef Schirgi (TVB Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis) were also co-opted into the board.

"I am delighted about the trust my Tyrolean colleagues have placed in me and I am happy to accept the new challenge," said Krösslhuber on the occasion of the election. "I am particularly attracted by the opportunity to help shape Tyrolean tourism, which is currently being reorganised throughout the country. I see digitalisation, the role of tourism associations in habitat management and the ecologisation of tourism as central topics for the coming years."

Krösslhuber wants to contribute his more than ten years of experience as managing director of the Wilder Kaiser Tourism Association, a region that is considered a pioneer in Tyrol, especially in the areas of mobility and living space. Networking among Tyrolean tourism managers is also important to him. Through personal exchange, they can learn from each other and tackle new challenges more efficiently together. And there are already two big topics on the agenda in Tyrol 2023 with the sustainability manager and sustainability report.

In addition to the ecologisation of tourism, Krösslhuber sees joint potential in the area of digitalisation and visitor management. In this way, tourism can be better controlled in terms of time and space and thus be made more eventful for guests, more beneficial for tourism professionals and more pleasant for locals. Since guests also move supra-regionally, coordination is particularly important here.

As chairman of the BÖTM Tyrol, Krösslhuber is also a member of the presidium of the BÖTM Austria and in this function can also bring the Tyrolean perspective to the national level.

The B ÖTM represents the interests of its members in the nine federal provinces of Austria and cooperates on tourism issues with public and private bodies as well as research institutions. The BÖTM also provides information on current tourism topics both internally and externally. It organises excursions and multi-day seminar series and is the interface between the State Secretariat for Tourism and the tourism associations and destinations in Austria.

Lukas Krösslhuber (*1975) grew up in Lienz in East Tyrol. After completing a double degree in economics and sports science in Innsbruck, he returned to his homeland as managing director of Osttirol Werbung in 2003. in 2006 he took on the task of setting up the new Kitzbüheler Alpen Marketing GmbH before moving to the Wilder Kaiser Tourism Association in 2011, where he has been managing director ever since. Under his leadership, intensive work has been done in recent years on the future strategy for tourism in the Wilder Kaiser, which is reflected in the self-image "Quality of life through sustainable tourism" and the motto #wirzusammen.
