The medieval court site and border fortification Altfinstermünz in Pfunds was once again the venue for the popular medieval festival last Thursday, 26 May. The organisers from TVB Tiroler Oberland | Erlebnisraum Tiroler Oberland were delighted to welcome numerous visitors who travelled back centuries into the past and marvelled at the varied programme. The traditional "3D archery tournament" last weekend was once again a complete success.
The spectacular fire shows by the Daidalos group and the action-packed knightly fights by the "Dresch-Flegel" (flailing knights) were a big hit with the many visitors to the medieval festival. Medieval music and dancing was provided by Heydenrausch and the group Ausfall. New to the party this year: Bollwerk Armoured Combat from Prutz. Together they rounded off the medieval programme perfectly, including guided tours of the adventure castle, medieval stalls, trying on armour, culinary highlights and much more.
Toni Monz, CEO of the TVB Tiroler Oberland, was delighted with the smooth running of the medieval festival: "An unforgettable event lies behind us. Special thanks go to the Altfinstermünz association for the excellent cooperation with the TVB Tiroler Oberland, all the participating groups and the Nauderer Bergbahnen for the catering."
For the president of the Altfinstermünz association, Hermann Klapeer, the medieval festival is a worthy annual event: "Finally being able to organise the medieval festival again after a forced break of two years is a really positive start to the coming summer season. Numerous exhibitions and events, such as cultural hikes and an exciting children's programme will take place again this summer in cooperation with the Tiroler Oberland tourism association."
From sword to bow
Last weekend, the "3D Archery Tournament" took place for the eighth time on the outdoor course in Pfunds/Tschingls. Numerous archers took part in an exciting competition with bow and arrow. Andreas Tschiderer, chairman of the archery club, was visibly delighted with how well the tournament went: "The number of participants has been steadily increasing since the beginning. Even after a two-year break, the tournament is still a popular fixture for many archers from home and abroad."
Archery is possible all year round thanks to the indoor and outdoor course in Pfunds. Courses and taster sessions with a trainer can be booked at any time via the TVB Tiroler Oberland.
An optimistic start to the upcoming summer season
The successful start to the summer season makes Managing Director of TVB Tiroler Oberland, Bettina Thöni, optimistic about the future: "Last weekend was extremely successful. The combination of the medieval festival and archery enjoys great popularity year after year. We create wonderful synergies here, which inspire guests to stay longer in the Tyrolean Oberland. We are looking forward to the upcoming summer season with great confidence."
