Whether cross-country skiing, ski touring or freeriding: Classic winter sports have long enjoyed great popularity. The credo is to move in the white nature away from the mainstream. The X Park on the Pitztal Glacier with freeride, cross-country centre as well as ski touring and fun park offers ideal conditions and has been open since October.
St. Leonhard in Pitztal, 29 October 2021 For a long time now, winter sports enthusiasts have been looking for alternatives to skiing and snowboarding. Whether cross-country skiing, ski tours or freeriding: The X Park on Tyrol's highest glacier in Pitztal offers the perfect opportunity with its freeride, cross-country centre as well as ski touring and fun park. "The demand for winter sports as alternatives to skiing and snowboarding is high. Both locals and guests are therefore taking advantage of what the X Park has to offer, where they can find opportunities for cross-country skiing, ski touring and freeriding all in one place," says Franz Wackernell, Managing Director of the Pitztal Gletscherbahn. The X Park is already open with a groomed cross-country ski trail and two groomed routes in the ski touring park.
With sports activities such as cross-country skiing and ski touring, people are returning to the roots of alpine winter sports "on the roof of Tyrol". Cross-country skiing in particular is a special experience for winter sports fans on the Pitztal Glacier. Due to the altitude, you can strengthen your endurance here amidst a dreamlike, white mountain backdrop. The ski touring park powered by DYNAFIT is also a special feature of the X Park. The ascent in the secured ski area is designed in such a way that there are no points of contact with downhill skiers or snowboarders. The wide range of routes is suitable for beginners and pros alike. The routes are designed for the respective level with different lengths and differences in altitude.
The X Park is located between the middle and top stations of the Mittelbergbahn (piste 36). Due to its location at 2,700 to 3,440 metres above sea level, the best conditions prevail throughout the winter season. In addition to the cross-country ski centre and ski touring park, the park offers the Funpark with the areas: Family Cross, Funline and Waveline.
FFP2 masks are compulsory for rides on the Glacier Express and the gondola lifts. The 3G rule (Convalescent, Tested or Vaccinated) applies in the catering establishments.
