MCI wins Tourissimus again

There is reason to celebrate at Management Center Innsbruck: The host of this year's final event of the Austrian Tourism Research Award "Tourissimus" won the coveted prize again in 2018 after 2017, ahead of the Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration and the Salzburg University of Applied Sciences. The basis for the top-class award is the consistently outstandingly rated submissions by MCI Tourism Master's graduates Astrid Sommer, Martin Anderl and Jannis Braun.

In the category "Marketing & Destination Management", Astrid Sommer achieved second place with her Master's thesis "Digitalisation in Tourism - Challenges and Impacts on the Management of Destinations", followed by Jannis Braun for "Brand Identity as the Basis of Brand Leaders of Alpine Destinations - Classic Approaches Put to the Test". In the category "Tourism Business", Martin Anderl convinced with his work "Knowledge Transfer in the Context of Family-External Succession in Small and Medium-Sized Family Businesses" and was able to win 3rd place for this.

Hubert Siller, Head of MCI Tourism, is delighted with the award: "In international football you would say that in 2018 we were able to win the coveted "triple", consisting of Tourissimus, ITB Science Award and Science Award of the Chamber of Commerce. My heartfelt congratulations to all who contributed to this, especially in the case of the Tourissimus to Astrid Sommer, Martin Anderl and Jannis Braun!"

MCI Rector Andreas Altmann affirms: "I congratulate Astrid Sommer, Martin Anderl and Jannis Braun on their great achievement. But my thanks also go to Hubert Siller and his dedicated team, who have been providing outstanding young management talent in tourism for years. This is once again impressively confirmed by the Tourissimus 2018."

The renowned Austrian Society for Applied Tourism Research (ÖGAF) annually awards the Tourism Research Prize to an Austrian higher education institution. Individual prizes are awarded in the categories "Marketing & Destination Management", "Sustainability in Tourism", "Tourism Economics" and "Mobility".
