YATWA | LIVE at mariatheresia 2024

In recent years, YATWA have become one of the best-known unknown bands on the Viennese scene. This is mainly due to their energetic concerts, which have earned them a reputation as one of the best live bands in the country, but increasingly also due to their single releases as a precursor to their second studio album. The YATWArten has now come to an end. PARALLEL LINES II is here. And it's very (very) good. The introductory lines of the title track "Welcome to adulthood. Welcome to the closet" symbolise the band's development from the manic-extrovert debut KATAUNA KATA to the more reduced sound (produced by Mario Fartacek) and the alternatively introspective lyrics of the second album. If you want to make a comparison with other rock artists, bands like Smashing Pumpkins, HAIM or The Strokes come to mind. PARALLEL LINES II (and the accompanying videos!) gives you hope, as with "Easier" or "Marvin Morser", invites you to dance indie with "F:eel" and "Fraud" and, above all, "Good at Dying" and "Fiebertraum" are simply wonderfully touching.
