Wissen|schaf(f)t Gesundheit: Frühchen behandeln und begleitung 2025

"Wissen|schaf(f)t Gesundheit" is a series of lectures organised by the Medical University of Innsbruck. Doctors and researchers present the current state of research to an interested public in an understandable way.
Around every 14th baby in Austria is born prematurely, i.e. before the 37th week of pregnancy. The more mature a premature baby is at birth, the higher its chances of survival and the better its prospects of a healthy life without permanent impairment. Medicine has made great progress in the care and treatment of these children in recent years.
In her lecture, Ursula Kiechl-Kohlendorfer explains what premature babies need, what risks exist and how parents, carers and doctors can work together to ensure the best possible development of the child: from gentle initial care to optimal care on the neonatal intensive care unit and support in the first years of life. In her lecture, the Director of the University Department of Paediatrics II (Neonatology) will discuss current developments in research and show the opportunities offered by modern neonatology today.
Free admission, no registration required, admission from 18:00 in the main lecture theatre (Audimax). The lecture can also be followed via livestream.
