Wanda, mein Wunder 2022

Wanda works as a housekeeper and nurse for a wealthy Swiss family on Lake Zurich and mainly looks after the stubborn, bedridden patriarch. He only lets Wanda get close to him and no one else. Because Wanda earns extra money by pleasing him sexually. When she returns a few months later, she is pregnant - by the 70-year-old. This causes the already tense atmosphere in the family to boil over.

Bitter comedy by Bettina Oberli, who directed one of the most successful Swiss films of all time at the domestic box office with "Die Herbstzeitlosen". Her film, which denounces exploitation and the gap between rich and poor, shines with a strong ensemble. It includes Marthe Keller and Andre Jung as well as Birgit Minichmayr, who won an award for her performance at the Five Lakes Festival. But Agnieszka Grochowska as the title heroine is right at the centre. She is a real stroke of luck.
