Vortrag: Peter Anich – Roßhahnscheibe – Himmelspferdchen 2023

At the opening of the exhibition on Roman coins in the Zeughaus, Dr Katzgraber discovered the ancient horse cock disc and its astronomical qualities. The horse cock disc was found in San Zeno in 1899 and probably dates from the 2nd century B.C. As with the so-called Varvara motif, horses provide movement in the sky. The lecture will use the horse cock disc to illustrate the movement of the stars and explain how Peter Anich (1723-1766) became an astronomer.
