Fashion is becoming cheaper and cheaper. Today you can get a T-shirt for five euros, a pair of jeans costs just ten euros. In order to produce clothes so cheaply, textile companies have moved their production facilities to low-wage countries like China, India and Bangladesh. There, the clothes for the western market are produced under often inhumane and dangerous working conditions. Reports of catastrophes, such as the collapse of a textile factory in Bangladesh with 1127 fatalities, are increasing. The pollution of the environment by toxic chemicals from textile production causes further devastating damage. The film documents this social and ecological exploitation under the sign of a globalised fashion market and attributes it to a changed attitude towards clothing: Today, industry and advertising dictate us the so-called "fast fashion", where clothing is only understood as a disposable product.
