Brilliant but reclusive author Loretta Sage (Sandra Bullock) has spent her career writing about exotic locations in her popular romance and adventure novels - hero of her stories, handsome cover model Alan (Channing Tatum), who has also dedicated his existence in real life to embodying the main character "Dash". While on tour to promote her new book with Alan, Loretta is kidnapped by an eccentric billionaire (Daniel Radcliffe) who hopes she can lead him to the treasure of the ancient lost city from her last novel. Alan wants to prove that he can be a hero in real life and not just in the pages of her books, and sets out to rescue her. The unlikely pair soon find themselves in the midst of a truly surreal adventure in the shallows of the jungle, with the lines between fiction and reality seeming to blur more and more. Will the two manage to become a team to survive the challenges of the wilderness and find the ancient treasure before it is lost forever?
