The Great Green Wall
It is one of the most ambitious climate projects in the world: an 8,000-kilometre-long belt of trees is being planted across the African continent to stop the spread of the desert and bring food, jobs and a future to millions of people. Along this still patchy green wall, Malian singer Inna Modja travels to people in Senegal, Mali, Nigeria and Ethiopia. She talks to them about their fears, dreams and hopes in a language that has always defined African culture: music. Thus, the film unwinds the soundtrack of the "Great Green Wall" in a collective melodic collage.
In his fascinating documentary, Jared P. Scott tells a rhythmic story of optimism, solidarity and determination and reveals a new African generation that is ready to take its destiny into its own hands and declare war on climate change. The film was made with the support of the United Nations.
