31 May is dedicated to the world of insects in the Botanical Garden. A varied and informative programme will accompany you throughout the day.

Programme:

Insect rally through the Botanic Garden:Insect pictures and brief information are displayed throughout the garden. As you wander through the garden, you can find out which insects can be found in a garden with diverse habitat structures. A little bumblebee lesson:In addition to information about their way of life, habitats, food plants and enemies, we will learn and practise together how to identify these wonderful animals.

Costs €7 Guided tour of the exhibition "Neat and tidy - habitat for animals and plants": During the guided tours, we will explain why native wild plants are the number one habitat for our animals, how fascinating the interplay and networks between plants and animals are and why deadwood is the most species-rich habitat.

Highlight of the day from 18:00: concert by the Chuchchepati Orchestra - biotremology meets sound art
Bumblebee Flight II is an interpretation of Rimsky-Korsakov's Flight of the Bumblebee and merges insects and instruments into a unique sound experience. The musicians utilise the sounds of biotremology - vibrations produced by insects on leaves, for example. The concert is a tribute to the endangered insect world. In case of bad weather, the concert will take place in the Tropical House!
