As part of the research project "The Pragmatics of Fictional Dialogues in Improvised Performances" at the University of Heidelberg in Germany, Prof. Daniela Landert and her team are investigating the language of improvised theatre from a linguistic perspective.

She is analysing the similarities and differences between dialogue in improvised theatre compared to spontaneous conversations and dialogue in television series. She is also interested in exploring how language is used to create humour and fictional characters.

Before we start an open improv evening with our guests, Daniela Landert - who, by the way, not only researches improv, but has also been passionately practising it in Zurich for years - will tell us more about it in a short lecture in the Bogentheater.
