STAATSTHEATER Innsbruck: ALLTAGSGESCHICHTEN von Elizabeh T. Spira 2024

In a production by Susi Weber and set by Esther Frommann, the Staatstheter honours Elisabeth T. Spira and gives free rein to this kaleidoscope of humanity on stage with Oliver Burkia, Carmen Gratl, Ute Heidorn and Freddy Redavid.
there are tales of strife and longing, of running along and running away, of the promises of the market, of the Geierwally, gas chambers and of bus stops as unfulfilled promises; there is ranting about inflation and about "foreigners", women, "those up there", "Häfnbrüder" and other "primitive logicians"; laws of nature are invoked, calendars are invoked - and "the third nuclear war" also threatens.
The polyphonic, multi-dialectal and abysmally dialectical collage of monologues is wonderfully paced. And superbly acted. A scowl often takes the place of a big displeasure. Sometimes the gestures are bigger than the thoughts. Every now and then, there is an acrobatic search for the air necessary for any (un)decent incendiary speech. It's oppressive. And spooky. And almost painfully funny.
