Peter and his little sister Anna are new in town and have not yet made any friends. When Anna meets the talking cockchafer Mr. Sumsemann and he tells her that the moon man has banished his home and his sixth leg to the moon, Anna immediately wants to help him together with her older brother Peter. In fact, the two kids really do land on the moon and encounter nature spirits and other weird characters on their adventurous journey and rescue mission.

Update of Gerdt von Bassewitz's classic fairy tale about two siblings who travel to the moon. Ali Samadi Ahadi, who has already proven himself in family entertainment with the "Pettersson & Findus" real film adaptations and has gained experience with animated characters, now presents his first animated film. He got prominent support for it. Peter Simonischek voices the cockchafer in the lovable fairytale and Lina Larissa Stahl, known from the "Bibi & Tina" films, contributes the title song.
