When June Wilton (Noni Hazlehurst) comes to, she finds herself face to face with a doctor who asks her in all seriousness what that thing he's holding is? A biro, of course, stupid question, June thinks. And why, she asks indignantly, is she not at home?

June then has to learn that she became demented after a stroke and has been living in a nursing home for five years - until now, completely unexpectedly, a state of complete mental clarity has set in. However, a relapse threatens at any time, the doctor warns, if she gets too excited

However, this does not stop the strong-willed June from escaping from the home at the first opportunity and returning to her house. But in the meantime, a family she doesn't know at all lives there. And that is only the beginning of the mess: Her daughter Ginny (Claudia Karvan) is in debt, her son Devon (Stephen Curry) has made a mess of his career as an architect. On top of that, he is divorced from June's beloved daughter-in-law Tiffany. And June's workshop for fine, hand-printed wallpaper is now run by a sleazy manager

June tries everything to get her completely unhinged family back on track - and accidentally comes across the trail of her former lover. But June's time is running out..
