Lauwarm tells about the most intimate moments of being human. Birth, childhood and identity and how it feels to be "in between" are dealt with poetically and humorously. An autobiographical text by Sergej Gößner, with whom he says he "let his trousers down", talks openly about his bi- or pansexuality and tells what it was like as a queer person in the village during puberty. How do you face your own sexuality when it seems different and strange? How do you explain to your family and friends that you desire more than one gender? And how do you deal with it as an adult?
Lauwarm received the Berganus Prize in 2019 and was shortlisted for the Brothers Grimm Prize of the State of Berlin. Sergej Gößner is considered an important queer voice in contemporary drama for young audiences. Sexuality is more politically charged than ever, because beyond our classic binary constructs, such as man - woman, black - white, right - left, up - down, heterosexual - homosexual, there is still quite a lot of space in between.
