Save the Date! This year, 17 November is World Philosophy Day. We are following UNESCO's call and have come up with an exciting programme for this special day. The Innsbruck Long Night of Philosophy wants to move from the tower to action. We will lure philosophy out of the ivory tower and guide it into the hustle and bustle of our city. Yes, we have a claim to content. No, you don't have to be a doctor or a professor for that. The Long Night of Philosophy stands for digestible philosophy events. 1st Philosophical Speed Dating on World Philosophy Day 17 November | 19:30 - 21:00 Address: Ann's Diner, Leopoldstraße 19, 6020 Innsbruck What does philosophising have to do with dating? At speed dating, solo philosophers meet brainmates and thinking partners without ulterior motives. From Hannah Arendt analysis to David Hasselhoff hermeneutics, everything is allowed. There is room for a good dozen brave people per date, who may engage in a mind-quickie with a new counterpart six times for five minutes. 2. Primordial Symbols on Houses as Donors of Protection and Energy 16 November | 19:00 - 20:30 The lecture deals with the origin of symbols on houses, as well as their meaning and effect on humans and animals as inhabitants. With the help of examples it will be shown which symbols support us in our life development and offer energetic power and protection. Perhaps this lecture will be the impulse to rediscover the richness of symbols for yourself! 3rd Stoic Art of Living 17 November | 18:00 - 19:00 "Be more relaxed!", "Don't take it so hard!", "Take a deep breath!" Well meant but badly hit? We know all the good advice, but HOW do you do it right? The Stoics give us lots of exercises and help on how to manage our lives better and easier. You can expect an hour in which you will certainly not lose your head and will go home with a lot of serenity afterwards. Be part of it. 4. I build the world the way I like it! Our brain thinks in pictures, in symbols, in the language of forms. 17. November | 19:30 - 20:30 In front of our inner eye, a bitten apple appears. Which company is it? We all know the answer and that is how our brain works. Already in antiquity, philosophers recommended that we work with this power of the imagination. Max Weber speaks of the re-enchantment of the world. There is more than a mathematical language of 0 and 1, a world that inspires in its diversity. As an expert in neurobiology, Gerald Hüther also talks about the power of inner images. Through them, guiding principles, convictions and visions are formed in our heads. But which ones do we use?
