Arable land is becoming increasingly valuable and rare. Every year, about 12 million hectares of agricultural land are lost through sealing. After the financial crisis of 2008, global finance capital discovered the world's farmland as a business field. Through land grabbing, the world's richest want to secure access to the world's most important resource. Instead of farmers, profit interests then determine the land. If this plunder is not prevented, our livelihoods will be destroyed. "Land Grab" portrays the investors and their victims. Their self-image could not be more different. Some talk about healthy economies, securing food supplies and prosperity for all. The others tell of displacement, enslavement and the loss of economic foundations. For two years, the film team travelled around the world and visited the perpetrators and victims of the new colonialism. They show how indigenous peoples and individual farmers in Europe, Africa, Asia and South America are displaced and how food is not produced for the region but on a grand scale for the markets of wealthy countries
