In this course you will learn about the history of caricature using case studies. Beginning in 16th century Italy, with the "ritratti caricati", which were drawn in the studios of the Carraccis, through 18th century England, where under Gillray this pictorial form was filled with political content and distributed as a printed product, to 19th century France, when the newspaper caricature was created under Daumier. By looking at caricatures together, we enter into a dialogue.
