Composers such as Timothy McCormack, Anna Korsun, Hannes Kerschbaumer and Chaya Czernowin work with sound as if it were a living organism or a material with concrete material qualities such as haptics, density, mass and weight. By means of intensive sound research, they penetrate into the interior of the sounds, explore the specificity of their materiality, their textures and energies. The physical action of the instrumentalists is crucial here, which the composers explore, often in close cooperation with the musicians. In this way, they create compositions that do not merely consist of a sequence of events on a timeline, but allow soundscapes to emerge in which the listeners can literally immerse themselves. founded in 2013 by alumni of Klangforum Wien, Ensemble Schallfeld from Graz celebrates its tenth anniversary with the premiere of these new works by Timothy McCormack, Anna Korsun and Hannes Kerschbaumer. Chaya Czernowin will perform "Fast Darkness III Moonwords", the last piece in the "Fast Darkness" series, which was premiered at the Ultima Festival in Norway in 2022.
