KING RICHARD is based on the true story of Richard Williams (Will Smith), the father of legendary tennis players Venus (Saniyya Sidney) and Serena Williams (Demi Singleton). To pave the way for his daughters to reach the pinnacle of success, Richard had to overcome enormous obstacles. After all, Compton, California, is not usually the place that produces tennis champions. But Richard has a plan. So he sweeps the syringes of drug addicts from the run-down local tennis court and bravely fights off the gangs that claim the court as their turf. He tirelessly teaches his daughters the finer points of a game he has never played himself and fights the age-old boundary lines of race and class to give his girls a fair chance - because he knows they are destined for greatness.
