Innsbrucker Festwochen der Alten Musik – Mit Pauken und Trompeten 2022

Once they gilded the existence of courtly society and the people, today they are as much a part of the Innsbruck summer as a Sunday round on the Nordkette: the historic timpani and trumpet sounds from the Goldenes Dachl. The Tyrolean archdukes were very fond of their powerful trumpet consorts, which comprised up to 30 musicians and played at prestigious occasions, celebrations and public festivities. The tradition of trumpet processions continued in some regions into the 19th century. Today, too, there are groups dedicated to playing this special instrument, and during the Innsbruck Festival of Early Music they send their festive sounds through the streets and alleys from the historic centre, crowned by the Goldenes Dachl.
