Herz-Jesu-Prozession Zirl mit Frühschoppen 2022

On Sacred Heart Sunday, the Sacred Heart procession takes place in Zirl, with a field service on the Anger square (in front of the NMS Zirl) followed by a morning pint at the Zirl music pavilion. The day begins at 6.00 a.m. with the ringing of the bells (lasting 20 minutes) and the firing of firecrackers. The actual procession begins at 8.30 am at the parish church. This procession has been held since the First World War and goes back to the pledge of 1796, in which the province of Tyrol consecrated itself to the heart of Jesus. However, the route has been shortened and altered time and again. Most of the houses along the path are decorated with small altars in the windows, flags and birch boughs. Sacred Heart Prayer This prayer is prayed during the procession. It renews the vow made in 1796. The secret Tyrolean national anthem, the Sacred Heart of Jesus song, is then sung. The route is as follows: parish church - Bahnhofstraße - Schöngasse (1st altar) - Am Anger - Hauptschule (2nd altar) - Am Anger - Volksschule - social centre (3rd altar and festive mass) - Schulgasse - parish church (4th altar and final blessing). The following figures and statues will be carried (in alphabetical order): Mary, Mother of God, St Sebastian, Child Jesus, Mother Anne, Guardian Angel, statue with depictions from the Passion (sweat cloth, cross,...).
