Herbert Brandl – Portage 2023/2024

Geographically speaking, the term "p "rtage" refers to the act of carrying boats or freight over land in order to overcome obstacles in the waterways - such as waterfalls or difficult terrain.
As is so often the case, Brandl finds a starting point for his paintings and/or titles in the landscape and the preoccupation with associated phenomena resulting from the interaction between nature and man.
The exhibition Portage brings together new works from Herbert Brandl's last two years of work. His new pictures are painted in high-contrast black and white or accentuated with the neon colours yellow, pink and turquoise. All in acrylic on canvas, they show the results of experiments with techniques such as airbrush and monotype on canvas.
