Film Analysis of Political Structures - Post-Soviet Conditions in Contemporary Russian Cinema


Content: While the audiovisual information media in today's Russia are strongly dominated by political power, cinema - especially narrative cinema - has remained pluralistic and critical of society. Thus, feature films as well as TV series thematise the actions and scope of action of individuals, expose social conditions in realistic settings and show social and political power structures.

Recommended for preparation: "Leviathan" (Andrej Zvjagincev, 2014) and "The Fool" (Jurij Bykov, 2014) These will be made available via videostream on personal advance notification to the lecturer in the original version with German subtitles.
