At first glance, Paul is a completely normal eighteen-year-old. What nobody knows: Paul is bipolar.

He is helplessly at the mercy of the radical mood swings in his brain. When a depressive episode ends in a suicide attempt, his single father Hardy has to admit him to a therapy centre for mentally ill teenagers. Paul's little brothers and sisters in particular ask Hardy about Paul's illness. Father Hardy has to admit that he hardly has any answers. He seeks advice from his work colleague Anni, who has been secretly in love with him for a long time.

At the clinic, Paul meets young people who are also struggling with psychological problems. Among them is Toni, who has to cope with trauma after being abused by her uncle. When Paul learns that her mother blames the girl for it, the two of them storm out of the clinic in a manic fly-by-night action and go full throttle. While Hardy realises how he really feels about Anni, Paul and Toni lay waste to everything in their path and spend the happiest day of their lives together.

But the next morning shows that mental illness has no regard for happiness. Paul's depression comes back with a vengeance. He has to make a decision: Does he continue to run away from his illness? Or does he trust the people who love him so much that he is finally ready to accept their help? Paul chooses love and the realisation that you don't have to go through a mental illness alone. Because what really sustains us is the courage to show our weaknesses and let those we love help us.
