Dancing Angels 2022
Time and again, Enrique Gasa Valga has succeeded in presenting world-famous choreographers to the enthusiastic Innsbruck audience. Dancing Angels is the continuation of these very special dance evenings.
Falling Angels stands for the relentless pursuit of perfection in the profession of dance and at the same time for its failure. Jiří Kylián uses the drum sounds of a composition by Steve Reich to accompany the choreography designed for eight female dancers. The origins of the sarabande dance form date back to 16th century Spain. The dance, which was considered lascivious at the time and was usually performed by men in women's clothes, is present today mainly through the courtly compositions of the Baroque period. In Sarabande, Jiří Kylián abstracts this dance and emphasises both its humour and its aggressiveness. Designed for six male dancers, Kylián's choreographic vocabulary is once again fascinating.
Premiere on 05.03.2022 at the Tiroler Landestheater, Großes Haus
