CINDERELLA (Metropolitan 2021-22) 2022

Cinderella is an enchanting fairytale opera based on the story "Cinderella" by the Brothers Grimm. Massenet was not particularly interested in the comic side of the work, i.e. the wayward half-sisters or the vain stepmother. Instead, he was fascinated by the fairytale-like, poetic quality of the material. Ghosts and fairies appear in ballet scenes and ultimately help Cinderella to find happiness in love.
