Brit Rock Film Tour
Alp-Con presents the "Brit Rock Film Tour" for the first time in German-speaking countries. Four breathtaking films with greats like Pete Whittaker and Leo Houlding conjuring up the best British climbing and adventure stories on the big screen!
E11 LEXICON
Accomplished all-round climber Neil Gresham is virtually part of the fine wine of British climbing; at 50 he is completing his toughest tradition project, "Lexicon". The steep and slick headwall of Pavey Ark's East Gully in the Lake District has a few tiny holds and, most importantly, no protection. The route is rated E11, making it one of the most difficult trad routes in England. Buckle up for a film that contains a classic cocktail of high praise, hard climbing and the moment of truth when Neil completes the "climb of a lifetime".
GREAT SHEIKHS
Join Britain's top adventure climber Leo Houlding on an exploratory climbing mission to the unclimbed desert towers of Saudi Arabia in the outstanding region of Wadi Al Disah. A film that radiates with the rugged beauty of the Arabian desert and the sincerity of a climber in his element.
KJERAG SOLO
A climber who needs no introduction, Pete Whittaker, is known for his world-class crack climbing and rope solo ascents. In this film we see Pete take a new direction with a free solo ascent of the imposing Kjerag (1082m) Big Wall in Norway. Take a ride in the front seat in this innovatively filmed mini-epic as we join Pete as he moves fully up the increasingly difficult and exposed line. All accompanied by a running commentary in Pete's inimitable style.
FALL THEORY
Franco Cookson burst onto the climbing scene over 10 years ago and has left an indelible mark ever since. This documentary takes an in-depth look at Franco's past and the workings of his fascinating mind. Featuring understudy, 15-year-old Tom Pearce, who attempts to recreate some of Franco's routes and add another layer of intrigue. Drawing on Franco's extensive archive, we witness some truly breathtaking moments during Franco's prolific career. Madman or genius? Decide for yourself, spare pants recommended.
