Bild-Erlebnisse III 2023

The course will focus on Austrian painting from the interwar period (1918 - 1938). This often reveals a reference back to Baroque art. Recourse to the past was a means of establishing national identity and legitimisation. Together, the paintings are asked questions about their creation, form, function and content. Assumptions can be made. The painting will respond, begin to come to life, link up with pictorial memories. The result of this intensive dialogue between works of art, participants and teachers will be a (subjective) lasting collection of images in the mind.
