Admire Innsbruck from above? The best place to do this is from the Seegrube or the Hafelekar above it.
There is no lake to be seen on the Seegrube, but you can enjoy a tremendous view of the city of Innsbruck from the Nordkette. The Nordkette lies to the north of Innsbruck and forms the enormous rock massif. If you go hiking on the Nordkette, you will experience a partly very steep and at the same time barren landscape.
The Seegrube itself was first made accessible by gondola in 1927 and was thus no longer accessible only to diligent hikers. Since then, a lot has happened on the Nordkette. Well-developed hiking routes make the Seegrube area one of the most accessible areas in the Karwendel mountains.
Hiking enthusiasts can hike the 1905-metre Seegrube (start in Innsbruck at about 500 metres, so there are about 1400 metres of altitude difference to overcome). Those who prefer to take it easy can also take the cable car from Hungerburg.
