Spektakel nach 8 Jahren Pause: Tarrenz geht am 09. Februar in die Fasnacht

Updated on 30.01.2025

On Sunday, 9 February 2025, the legendary Tarrenzer Fasnacht will finally return after eight years. The traditional masked figures Roller and Schaller are at the centre of the colourful hustle and bustle, accompanied by a host of other charismatic characters: Witches, bears, the oxen band, sackers, knights and many more give the spectacle its unique character.

The elaborately detailed carnival floats are a highlight. Construction begins in autumn and continues until shortly before the carnival.

An absolutely unique feature of the Tarrenzer Fasnacht is the Tarrenzer Fasnacht beer, which is brewed especially for the carnival by the local Starkenberg brewery.

On Saturday, the carnival floats drive from Walchenbach (municipal building yard) to the "Hotel zum Lamm" car park. The carnival itself begins on Sunday, 9 February 2020 at 10:00 a.m. with the procession, which leads from the "Hotel zum Lamm" along the main road to the fire station.

At 12:00 noon, the parade starts from the fire station along the main street back to the village square, where the "Schlusskroas" takes place at around 5:00 pm.

The finale takes place on Monday with the Wild Carnival. The Labera is announced at the bandstand at 12 noon and at 1 pm the procession of floats from the bandstand to the kindergarten takes place.
