Zillertal. The most beautiful sides of summer

Updated on 16.05.2024

Sport or relaxation, adventure or pleasure, in the valley or on the mountain - in the four holiday regions of the Zillertal from Fügen-Kaltenbach via Zell-Gerlos and Mayrhofen-Hippach to Tux-Finkenberg, you can experience unforgettable moments. New attractions and experiences are waiting to be discovered and offer a wide variety of thrills and relaxation. The Zillertal Activcard is an all-in-one ticket and combines the majority of bookable activities.

Summer in the first holiday region in the Zillertal Fügen - Kaltenbach

In the First Holiday Region, twelve authentic villages with perfect starting points for hiking and biking tours as well as marvellous offers in picturesque surroundings beckon. The 18-hole golf course (Leading Golf Courses of Austria), a modern thermal spa and various water and leisure facilities in the surrounding area also prove the diversity in Fügen-Kaltenbach. The Spieljochbahn in Fügen is a paradise for families. The modern gondola lift takes visitors quickly and comfortably to the diverse experiences on the Spieljoch. Here, children can let off steam in the water play park, whizz down the tubing run, prove their balance and skill on the high ropes course and soar through the air on the Flying Fox.

Culinary enthusiasts will also be spoilt for choice thanks to the exceptional mountain huts, excellent restaurants and the two show dairies Heumilch Sennerei and Speckstube.

Fun and idyll for the whole family: the Zell-Gerlos region

From the picturesque village of Zell am Ziller via traditional mountain villages up to idyllic Gerlos - in the heart of the Zillertal, the holiday region winds its way from the valley to the mountain climbing areas. This overall composition results in a highlight for families and all active mountain enthusiasts. Peace and seclusion, imposing mountain scenery, idyllic hiking tours, action-packed bike tours and downhill trails. In short: you can find everything here in summer! The motto of the Zillertal Arena is therefore a fitting one: Have fun in the sun! Maybe that's why Zillertal beer is brewed here in Tyrol's oldest private brewery.

New features in the Zell-Gerlos region include yoga platforms, a ball tower for the existing wooden ball track and other play installations on the Isskogel. Two new wooden ball tracks have also been built in Gerlos Adventure Land, which fit in perfectly with the existing attractions. The Gerlos high ropes course has also been expanded with several new stations. On the newly designed "Holzweg Zellberg" theme trail, nature can be discovered and new things learnt in a playful way. On the Gerlos adventure trail and on the Isskogel, young guests can look forward to three new radio play adventures by Locandy, which make the experience of the existing stations even more varied and exciting.

Mayrhofen-Hippach region: the cradle of alpine tourism in Zillertal

The mountaineering village of Ginzling in particular, with the surrounding Zillertal Alps High Mountain Nature Park, makes hikers' hearts beat faster. The Nature Park House with the newly opened "Hidden Treasures" mineral exhibition is also located here. And in Mayrhofen, the secret capital of the Zillertal, numerous boutiques, restaurants, bars and cafés are waiting to be discovered. When the sun isn't shining, the Visorium offers fun for the whole family with laser tag, an escape room and mini golf. Popular cultural and excursion destinations such as the Stiegenhaushof show distillery, the Strasser-Häusl and the Zillertal adventure dairy round off the offer.

For this year's summer launch of Mountopolis, the adventure world of Mayrhofner Bergbahnen, the AdlerBühne Ahorn was relocated and is now at a new location for the mountain summer of 2024. Directly at the FalknerOase and in the middle of the Filzen reservoir, it promises not only the best views of the spectacular peaks of the Zillertal Alps, but also of the kings of the air and their daring flight manoeuvres. At the AdlerBühne Ahorn, the highest bird of prey station in Europe at 2,000 metres above sea level, you can marvel at eagles, buzzards, eagle owls and more during the one-hour bird of prey show (daily, except Fridays). Also new in summer 2024 - the Albert Adler Adventure Trail. There, visitors can immerse themselves in the captivating story of "Albert, the eagle and the battle for Mayrhofen" together with mascot AlbertAdler at various interactive stations along the circular trail and discover the newly created FalkenSteig trail, including the panoramic GreifenBrücke bridge.

Tux-Finkenberg: where glaciers and forests become a paradise for excursions

Healthy mountain air, fresh spring water, lush green alpine meadows and imposing mountains from 850 to 3,476 metres above sea level in the middle of the Tux and Zillertal Alps are the perfect ingredients for an unforgettable mountain summer in Tux-Finkenberg - a true natural Eldorado for families and alpine sports enthusiasts.

The TUX Worlds, unique themed trails and adventure playgrounds also offer numerous activities in the valley that are suitable for children of all ages. Pepi's Kinderland on the Penkenjoch impresses young and old alike with its 8 metre tall, playable wooden bear. The Almspielerei adventure playground on the Eggalm makes everyone's hearts beat faster and Luis' Gletscherflohpark on the Hintertux Glacier at 3,250 metres ensures fun in the snow in the middle of summer.

Whether you want to explore nature, hike, (e-)mountain bike, bike&hike or simply relax, there is something for everyone in Tux-Finkenberg in the Zillertal. The ideal altitude makes it easy to access the more than 350 km of marked hiking trails and 150 km of (e-)mountain bike routes.

New this summer is the glacier picnic rucksack, which offers very special holiday experiences. From a picnic blanket, tablecloth, cutlery and seat cushion to a snack board, pocket knife, hiking map and sun cream, everything is included. Equipped with a rucksack, you can flexibly choose the most beautiful spot for a picnic - whether in the middle of lush meadows, near the Schleier waterfall or on the ball safari. The picnic rucksack can be booked from mid-June to mid-October and can be collected from the restaurant on the Sommerberg.
