Ultratrail on the Paznaun high-altitude trail at the 2nd PIUT 2025

Updated on 30.10.2024

On 11 and 12 July 2025, the Paznaun Ischgl Ultra Trail (PIUT) returns to the impressive mountain landscape of the Paznaun - Ischgl region. With five different routes ranging from 20 to 100 kilometres, the competition offers a unique challenge for experienced trail runners and beginners alike. Registration is now open.

In line with the slogan "for unique challenges", the 2nd PIUT also offers runners the choice between five routes of varying difficulty, each leading through the high alpine landscape of the 130-kilometre Paznaun High Trail. The races start in the four villages in Paznaun - See, Kappl, Ischgl and Galtür - and all finish together in Ischgl, where all participants are given a fitting welcome.

The latest and longest challenge is the PIUT 100, which covers 101 kilometres and 6,300 metres in altitude from See via Kappl and Galtür to Ischgl. This is followed by the PIUT 85, already known from the previous year, which also leads from See via Kappl and Galtür to Ischgl over 89 kilometres and 5,200 metres in altitude. For ambitious runners, the PIUT 50 offers a challenging route with 53 kilometres and 3,100 metres of altitude from Kappl. The PIUT 30 starts in Galtür and challenges participants with 2,500 metres of elevation gain over a distance of 30 kilometres. The PIUT 20 is ideal for beginners, starting from Ischgl over a distance of 20 kilometres and 1,300 metres in altitude.

PIUT TEN and PIUT KIDS RUN

In addition to the main races, the PIUT TEN is a shorter 10-kilometre course, which is especially designed for amateur runners. The proceeds from this charity run will be donated to charity projects. The PIUT KIDS RUN presented by Volksbank Tirol is organised for the youngest runners. Here, children can compete in an age-appropriate race and gain their first competitive experience. Participation in the PIUT KIDS RUN is free of charge.

Course and supporting programme

The routes of the Paznaun Ischgl Ultra Trail run along large sections of the Paznaun High Trail, which is considered one of the most challenging alpine trails in the region. Over a total of 130 kilometres, the trail leads from See via Kappl and Ischgl to Galtür and back again on the opposite side of the valley. Trail runners experience spectacular views of the Silvretta, Samnaun and Verwall groups. The high-altitude trail is a key challenge as it offers technically demanding passages and varied terrain. In the valley, the PIUT 2025 will be accompanied by a varied supporting programme that will appeal to participants and spectators alike. The focus is on the PIUT Expo, which presents the latest trends and equipment in trail running. Some of the renowned partners of the Paznaun - Ischgl Tourism Association such as Asics, Skinfit, LEKI and Gloryfy will also be there. In addition, runners and spectators can expect a great atmosphere with music, refreshments and entertainment in every town.to register: time2win.atFurtherinformation at www.piut.tirol.
