With almost 200 participants, this year's Eis Total Festival in Pitztal was the largest ice climbing festival in Austria. From 26 to 28 January, climbing enthusiasts from all over the Alps flocked to St. Leonhard im Pitztal to explore the valley's impressive icefalls and climbing stations.
The event not only offered participants the opportunity to climb in breathtaking surroundings, but also to test the latest ice climbing equipment. Numerous renowned manufacturers made their products available so that participants could try out the latest ice tools and crampons. The bizarre shapes of the icefalls thrilled the participants, who found themselves in a surreal ice landscape. Here they were able to put their skills to the test and push themselves to the limits of their abilities.
Another highlight of the festival was the varied supporting programme. Lectures and workshops by experienced ice climbers passed on valuable tips and tricks. At the test festival, participants were also able to get to know various companies and find out about their products. The atmosphere of the festival was also praised by the participants. The exchange with like-minded people and the opportunity to talk to experienced climbers helped to make the Eis Total Festival an unrivalled event.
