The cold season is something very special in the Tannheimer Tal. Winter here not only attracts visitors with snow-covered mountains, beautiful panoramas and unspoilt nature, but also with a wide variety of winter sports and events.
Skiing, snowboarding, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and much more are on offer here. Four charming ski areas with 33 kilometres of pistes and a cross-country skiing paradise with 140 kilometres of trails are just waiting to be discovered. Thanks to its location at an altitude of 1,100 metres, the Tannheimer Tal also promises largely snow-sure conditions.

Thanks to the vignette-free journey and the proximity to the Bavarian border, your holiday starts here in a relaxed manner. With four charming ski areas and a total of 33 kilometres of pistes, variety is a top priority. Whether in Grän, Zöblen, Schattwald or Tannheim - the slopes are always just a stone's throw away. Free use of the ski bus for guests with a guest card makes exploring the ski areas even easier. In addition, the favourable slope position of the pistes in the Tannheimer Tal ensures varied descents. Due to the orientation, the snow stays longer, providing skiers and snowboarders with the best conditions. Pleasure routes without gradients, panoramic circular trails or competition routes - cross-country skiers will find everything they are looking for here. Regardless of whether you prefer the classic style or the skating technique. The excellent quality of the extensive, snow-sure cross-country ski trails on offer is also evidenced by the Tyrolean cross-country ski trail seal of approval, which has been awarded to the region for years. Nestled in the picturesque mountains of the Allgäu Alps, the Tannheimer Tal also hosts the "Läuft bei uns" event series. Participants can expect a successful mix of sporting challenges and unforgettable nature experiences.
From Tuesday, 25 February to Thursday, 27 February, the "Läuft bei uns" event offers the ideal opportunity to experience cross-country skiing in a modern way. From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., those interested can take part in technique training with experienced cross-country ski instructors from the local ski schools. Cross-country skis, poles and boots will be available on site - provided by FISCHER SKI and ATOMIC, who will be there with their teams of experts to offer personalised advice. The best thing is: technique training, supporting programme and rental are free of charge. In addition to the sporting offer, relaxation between training sessions is also guaranteed thanks to a varied supporting programme with chill-out music, cosy sun loungers and warm drinks.
Winter hiking with impressive panoramasIn the Tannheimer Tal, 81 kilometres of winter hiking trails are waiting to be discovered. From leisurely valley walks to summit tours, there is something for every taste. One highlight is the hike to Vilsalpsee: in around an hour, the trail leads through the nature reserve to this picturesque jewel, which shows its tranquil, snow-covered side in winter. Ambitious hikers are tempted by the tour to the summit of the Neunerköpfle. From the mountain station, a family-friendly trail leads over 2.2 kilometres to the highest point at 1,900 metres, where the largest summit book in the Alps and a fantastic view over the valley and into the Allgäu Alps await. After the activity, inns invite you to enjoy Tyrolean specialities.
Snowshoeing through the unspoilt Tyrolean mountains is also very popular. With snowshoes, hiking boots and poles, the journey of discovery can begin - ideally accompanied by a local guide. A special tip is the Lohmoos circuit, a twelve-kilometre trail that leads through the snow-covered Lohmoos high moor. The route starts in Tannheim, runs along the high trail at the foot of the Einstein to Zöblen and delights with another highlight: the view of the Zugspitze.
