Diverse and wonderful! The third Winter Woodstock of Brass Music in Brixental Valley took place from 22 to 24 March 2024. In the three towns of Brixen, Kirchberg and Westendorf, there were three days of brass music highlights, varied weather and an endless programme! 10.000 festival guests over three days and 30 bands were guests and brought a Woodstock feeling to the region. A festival highlight that will continue to take place here in Brixental Valley in the future - because just in time for the festival, the co-operation was fixed for another four years!
New stages, colourful programme
The programme kicked off on Friday at 11:00 am at the six huts and venues spread across the entire Brixental Valley. Two tried and tested hotspots were the Sonnalm in Westendorf and the Berggasthof Nieding in Brixen. Brand new: the SkiWelt hut at the mountain station of the Hochbrixen cable car and two new stages in Kirchberg: the village stage in the centre of the village and the Gasthaus z'Röhrmoos at the valley station of the Maierlbahn cable car. From 4.00 pm there was a programme on the Main Stage and at a later hour the festival guests arrived at the after-show party in the Brixner Stadl. The musical spectrum ranged from dance music to modern brass band music - people sang, danced, celebrated and enjoyed brass band music in all its facets.
Community togetherness
And the weekend was not only diverse in terms of music! The weather also varied from bright sunshine to wintry snowfall. So without further ado, they continued playing indoors and moved together. And one thing remained the same whatever the weather: the exuberant atmosphere and the sense of togetherness! The warm hospitality and support of everyone involved made the weekend a shared experience. From the caterers, local clubs and hoteliers to the Brixental Valley Tourist Board and long-standing and new partners such as Buffet Crampon, Stiegl, Raiffeisen Tirol, skruf, Red Bull and Almdudler. Brass music connects! The two ski areas KitzSki and SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser-Brixental could also be used extensively by the guests with the Woodstock ski pass.
Highlights and things to hear
The Main Stage tent at the valley station of the Hochbrixen cable car was particularly hot on Friday and Saturday from 4.00 pm. Acts such as folkshilfe or Fättes Blech met traditional music from the Kaiser Musikanten or the Josef Menzl band. Enthusiastic festival guests and a charming setting created a cosy atmosphere. In the tent, guests were able to try on the new Woodstock traditional costume by Wenger for the first time and order it in time for the summer, as well as purchase winter Woodstock merchandise.
Winter morning pint and many local guests
On Sunday, the Main Stage tent became cosy once again, especially for local festival guests . At 11:00 a.m., the winter morning pint was opened with the Stiegl beer tapping . This was accompanied by grilled chicken and a range of flavours from the in-house Woodfood festival kitchen. Payment was easy with the practical Raiffeisen cashless system and chip on the festival wristband. Tasty, sociable, together. It was a successful conclusion to three unforgettable days of Winter Woodstock.
Come to stay
The next winter is sure to come! And definitely for the next four years, because the Winter Woodstock of brass music will continue to be held here in Brixental Valley. The date for next year has already been set: from 21 to 23 March 2025, it will once again be "Brass music on the rocks" in the three towns of Brixen, Kirchberg and Westendorf!
