Knights, jugglers and storytellers brought the Middle Ages back to life in Rattenberg.

Rattenberg - Last weekend, Rattenberg became the vibrant backdrop for a colourful medieval spectacle that attracted visitors in their droves. In glorious spring weather, Austria's smallest town was transformed into a setting that could hardly be more lively and authentic. Knights in shining armour, skilful jugglers, graceful dancers and powerful drummers from all corners of Europe gathered to whisk visitors away to a bygone era.

Over 130 performers turned the last weekend in April into an unforgettable experience. The fearsome show fights of the "Dresch-Flegel" troupe from Wattens were a special highlight, performed with real weapons and full dedication to medieval martial arts. The market drew in the crowds with over 45 stalls of traders and craftsmen offering medieval accessories, toys and jewellery. The motto of the camp at the gates of the city was "Middle Ages at your fingertips", and the camp groups provided an insight into life in the past.

For children, there was a jousting tournament and storytelling sessions that playfully awakened a fascination for the Middle Ages. Adult visitors could try their hand at crossbow shooting and axe throwing.

The medieval spectacle in Rattenberg not only offered a journey into the past, but also the opportunity to actively experience history. The event proved once again how lively tradition and culture can be celebrated and that such events strengthen and inspire the community. A feast for the senses that immersed young and old in the world of knights, lansquenets, witches and jugglers. Unique, educational and unforgettable - Rattenberg has once again shown how history can be brought to life.
