The Zillertal continues its success story as a top culinary region. The testers of the Gault&Millau Restaurant Guide 2025 scrutinised the Zillertal's top gastronomy and awarded 14 restaurants a total of 31 toques.
"For the chefs in the valley, the toque award in Gault&Millau is a testament to their own work and passion for cooking," says Peter Fankhauser, who was celebrated for his rating after the publication of the Gault&Millau Restaurant Guide on 19 November 2025. With four toques, Guat'z Essen in Stumm is the most highly decorated restaurant in the Zillertal.
Maximilian Stock, head chef at the Genießerstube in the Alpenhof in Tux with three toques, is also delighted with the award: "To be recognised by such a renowned organisation as Gault&Millau for many years in a row fills us with pride and gratitude. We see the award as confirmation of our endeavours to inspire our guests with culinary delights and to always deliver top performance with our team."
There is also a newcomer among the fourteen award-winning restaurants. Restaurant Brugger's Genießerhotel Lanersbacher Hof in Tux was able to reopen in summer after a break. The comeback with two toques is all the more impressive: "We are delighted to have been awarded two toques again in the Gault&Millau Guide 2025 after a break in the summer," says Anton Fercher, head chef at Genießerhotel Lanersbacher Hof, whose menu includes dishes with lamb and beef from Juns in Tux. "Our Zillertal chefs impressively demonstrate how to delight guests with culinary delights at the highest level. The focus on sustainable and seasonal food from the region is a clear sign of high appreciation towards their guests," says Ronald Felder, Managing Director of Zillertal Tourismus, who congratulates the award-winning restaurateurs on their awards.
