Alpine cattle drives in Tux-Finkenberg

Updated on 27.08.2024

On Saturday, 14 September 2024, the Finkenberg Sheep Breeding Association and the Finkenberg Rifle Company are organising one of the largest "Schafschoaden" in the rear Zillertal.

The so-called "Heimfahren", where farmers bring their animals back down to the valley after a long summer on the mountain pastures, is a special event. Around 400 sheep and Haflinger horses, together with their shepherds, will march for around 7 hours and 35 kilometres from the Berliner Hütte through the Zemmgrund to the festival grounds in Finkenberg. Arrival is expected at around 13:00. Live music with "Die Ausholter" will provide entertainment from 11.00 am.

Culinary specialities from the Zillertal, such as Zillertal doughnuts, will be on offer, and there are plenty of parking spaces and coach parking available just a two-minute walk from the festival site.

The Finkenberg Sheep Breeders' Association and the Finkenberg Rifle Company are looking forward to welcoming many visitors!

Once again this year, the Hintertux Oktoberfest and the cattle drive from the Bichlalm will take place on the last weekend in September - a real piece of Tux tradition! The Hintertux Oktoberfest is associated with a farmers' market, traditional crafts and Tux delicacies far beyond the borders of the region.

Good entertainment and a great atmosphere with various music groups are guaranteed in the marquee this weekend. The highlight of this traditional festival is the cattle drive from the Bichlalm, one of the most beautiful in the whole of Tyrol, with top groups from near and far providing good humour, music, dancing and a great atmosphere. On Friday, "Läts Fetz" will provide the best entertainment, and on Saturday "Die Sumpfkröten" will really heat things up in the marquee.
