Amidst the imposing mountain world of the Zillertal and Kitzbühel Alps, the villages of Zell and Gerlos in the Zillertal Arena guarantee the ideal entry into the largest skiing area in the Zillertal. Whether for active connoisseurs or families, the ski area makes every winter sports heart beat faster. For all those who want to take time out from skiing, the region also has countless experiences in store off the slopes.

Tracks in the snow

Crunching snow underfoot, crystal clear air and the breathtaking view make a winter hike in Zell-Gerlos something special. In the romantic snow-covered side valleys of Gerlos - the Schwarzachtal, Wimmertal, Schönachtal, Krummbachtal and Wildgerlostal - you can experience untouched nature and a unique tranquillity that gives you strength. The new winter hiking trails on the Rosenalm and the Gerlosstein alpine pasture promenade are perfect for an excursion with the whole family, including a magnificent mountain panorama.

Tip: For those who want to discover the untouched winter nature on remote paths, a snowshoe hike is ideal.

Unforgettable enjoyment of nature

Gliding on cross-country skis along the freshly groomed cross-country trail and taking in the vastness of the valleys as well as the impressive landscape, this gentle trend sport for the whole body has long since ceased to be a niche sport. On the cross-country trails of the region, beginners as well as advanced skiers can strengthen their endurance, strength and coordination in skating as well as in classic cross-country skiing. Pure enjoyment in a unique natural setting awaits all cross-country skiers on 17 kilometres of trails in Gerlos with its side valley Schönachtal. For the night owls, 1.5 km of the Schönachtal trail are illuminated daily until 10 pm. If there is enough snow, the trails around Zell am Ziller are also groomed and invite you to take a break in the snow.

Two ways of tobogganing fun

How about a fun toboggan run? The fun factor is guaranteed on the longest toboggan run in the Zillertal, on the Gerlosstein in Hainzenberg with 7 km and the Krummbachtal toboggan run in Gerlos. The ascent is made easier with a ride on the Gerlosstein cable car or with the ski bus, making tobogganing even more fun. The somewhat different tobogganing experience is offered by the snow fun "Snowtubing" at Gerlosstein. On the specially prepared tracks you slide down with a tyre and best of all, the use of the tracks is free of charge.

Flying like an eagle

Be king of the skies for once - on a tandem flight from the mountain to the valley, the adrenalin level rises to immeasurable heights and lets you marvel at the new perspective from the air and the vastness of the Zillertal mountains.
