For the 14th "Pitztal Wild Face Freeride Extreme" freeride race, skiers and snowboarders will make a pilgrimage to the Pitztal Glacier from 17 to 19 March 2022. This year, the public can finally welcome the riders back to the original finish area in Mandarfen with lots of music and good humour.
In the wild show from the Mittagskogel, it's not the perfect line that counts, but the fastest time. The participants in the categories Ski Women/Ski Men and Snowboard Women/Snowboard Men have to pass five directional corridors - in between there is a free choice of terrain.
The starting signal will be given on Saturday, 18 March, at 11 a.m. at the summit of the Mittagskogel (3173 metres). Then the riders will choose the fastest route over 1,510 metres in altitude through 4.6 kilometres of open terrain at half-minute intervals.
The Pitztal Wild Face on the Pitztal Glacier is a two-star FWT qualifier event and takes place for the 14th time this year. Admitted are freeriders from 18 years of age who are equipped with helmet, avalanche transceiver, back protector, probe and shovel.
The award ceremony takes place after the race at the finish area in Mandarfen. This is also the perfect place for all spectators to watch the spectacle, as more than half of the race course can be seen from there. Don't forget your binoculars! Riders and spectators can enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of the supporting programme around the freeride race, and the classic after-race party will be held again this year in the Hexenkessl.
