Tourism Provincial Councillor Mario Gerber and Tirol Tourist Board Managing Director Karin Seiler outlined challenges and presented plans for 2023 at their joint New Year's Outlook. While Gerber addresses, among other things, the increased demand for labour, Seiler strengthens the areas of innovation and sustainability with a restructuring of Tirol Werbung.

Innsbruck, 4 January 2023 - On the occasion of the Bergisel Jumping, Tourism Provincial Councillor Mario Gerber and Tirol Tourist Board Managing Director Karin Seiler invited tourism professionals to visit the sporting event and to the subsequent New Year's Outlook in the Urichhaus. At this industry meeting, the two presented plans for 2023.

"Despite the current challenges, the winter season has started successfully, the booking situation over the Christmas holidays was good and the outlook is also optimistic," summarises Tourism Provincial Councillor Mario Gerber and emphasises: "Inflation and rising energy costs are a great challenge not only for the Tyrolean population, but also in particular for the many business and tourism operators in our country The omens for Tyrol as a holiday destination are currently good, but could change quickly due to the many challenges. "Against this backdrop, clear and stable framework conditions are also needed for 2023 - not least, the local companies and tourism businesses need planning security. In addition, we will continue to adhere to the 'Tyrolean Way' in the coming year and sustainably develop tourism in accordance with the wishes of guests and the Tyrolean population. In any case, the credo is: quality instead of quantity."

In view of the increased demand for labour, which is particularly pronounced in tourism, Gerber announces a work programme to bind employees more strongly to the industry and to recruit new employees. "Just as we court guests, we must also court workers in the future," Gerber makes clear.

Tirol Werbung Managing Director Karin Seiler also remains confident for 2023 despite the many challenges, especially since Tirol Werbung has also positioned itself well for the future. "With the Future Lab, we are creating our own team in which trends are identified and ideas developed. Ideally, this will then give rise to concrete projects and products," says Seiler. As a possible example, she mentions a Tyrol-wide card that overnight guests can use as a ticket for public transport.

In addition, the Tirol Tourist Board is establishing a sustainability competence centre, where employees will deal with issues such as mobility, climate, the tourism mindset and the increased demand for labour.

In the area of marketing, the Tirol Tourist Board is continuing the trend towards digitalisation. "With a price and booking monitor, which we will launch in the course of the year, we will be able to collect important data such as the booking situation on a daily basis. We will also be even more precise in our approach to guests and address potential holidaymakers more specifically than before," says Seiler. After all, the aim is to attract the right guests to Tyrol, not more. "Quality instead of quantity applies not only to our offer, but also to the guests," Seiler sums it up. To this end, the company is creating a new team for target group management.
