The region on the eastern edge of the Kitzbühel Alps is starting the 2023 summer season with a freshly expanded offer. The focus: holiday experiences for the whole family.
New themed and puzzle trails, unforgettable events and much more: The PillerseeTal with its five villages Fieberbrunn, Hochfilzen, St. Jakob in Haus, St. Ulrich am Pillersee and Waidring is expanding its offer for families at the start of the summer season. In the varied mountain adventure worlds, little explorers discover exciting facts about the local flora and fauna and are motivated to hike by technical elements such as apps or "augmented reality". In between, the bathing lakes and evening events entice them and ensure refreshing and eventful holiday days. By the way: The PillerseeTal scores with exemplary infrastructure - all family highlights can be reached by bus within a maximum of 20 minutes and with the PillerseeTal Card, admission to numerous offers is automatically included. www.pillerseetal.at
Play, climb, marvel and puzzle - that's the new, interactive games and educational trail "Timoks Entdecker-Checker-Pfad". Between the Streuböden middle station and Wildalpgatterl there are six stations where mascot Timok reveals exciting facts about the alpine region and its secrets: Why do you have to be especially sweet to the cannibalistic mountain newt? How does a grass frog manage to survive winter torpor despite weak lungs? And what is it about the "mini dinosaur with a backward gait"? Those who guess all the questions correctly and decipher the solution word can pick up a reward at the mountain railway ticket office. Just a few metres away is Europe's first digital circular hiking trail "Museum goes Wild", which has moved from the Wildalmen to the Streuböden reservoir and is now part of the family and leisure park "Timok's Wild World". What remains is the innovative concept: with the "Go wild" app, the digital museum guide is always along for the ride and tells interesting facts about flora and fauna along the ten discovery stations.
The Buchensteinwand in St. Ulrich am Pillersee also comes up with some innovations for the start of the season. In the hiking area around the summit and the 30-metre-high Jakobskreuz, boards of mascot "Pletzi Bär" are hidden. Simply stamp the respective motif on the back of the stamp card, show it at the valley station and look forward to a surprise. If, on the other hand, you want to prove your dexterity and patience, grab a wooden ball and try out the two new - of a total of six - ball track stations around the accessible summit cross.
At the Triassic Park on the Steinplatte in Waidring, on the other hand, everything revolves around the past: after the interactive exhibition indoors, it's off to the largest sandy beach in the Alps, where giant dinosaurs watch as they search for fossils. In between, maybe try out the XXL slide? Or test your balance in the low ropes course? The best thing is to cool off and splash around at the new playground with water games while parents sit in the sun and enjoy the magnificent panoramic view. The older children, on the other hand, go in search of clues with the "augmented reality" puzzle. Whoever finds the three hidden prehistoric inhabitants and cracks the secret code word gets a medal.
Tip: Connect the numerous attractions of the Pillerseetal on a puzzle journey through the entire region. What it's all about: The legendary Steinberg King is up to mischief here and threatens to turn man and beast to rock. At eight stations, young and old have to prove their logical thinking, skill, team spirit and patience. This summer, the sequel "The Awakening of the Stone Mountain King" promises even more fun with the interactive online puzzle rally and exciting "augmented reality" elements. Holidaymakers simply whip out their smartphone or tablet, scan the QR codes at the stations and solve further puzzles to collect digital symbols and crystals.
At the end of the day, the Pillerseetal also offers numerous experiences that make parents want to put off bedtime for a while. Things get romantic at the lakeside bonfire at Pillersee. From 8 p.m. bands provide a relaxed atmosphere with a fantastic view over the lake. The highlight of the evening: the big fire show (7 June to 13 September, 8 to 10 pm). Would you rather whizz off into the sunset on the summer toboggan run? At the Long Friday with picnic concerts organised by Bergbahnen Fieberbrunn, the area at the Streuböden middle station is transformed into an event location on ten dates from 30 June to 1 September. Children (and the young at heart) ride Timok's Alpine Coaster for free (one free ride per person), while parents enjoy the casual evening with live music and picnics on the mountain (6 to 10.30 pm).
Other events: Every Monday, the gamesand adventure night in Waidring delights with a colourful programme. The little ones are in good hands on the bouncy castle, climbing tower and face painting, while mum and dad enjoy delicious Tyrolean delicacies (10 July to 28 August, 6.30pm to 9pm). The village centre of Fieberbrunn, on the other hand, invites you to a stroll night on Tuesdays: live music, food truck and lots of playground equipment for children promise a successful end to the holiday. If you like, take a stroll through the shops in the village centre, which are open until 10 pm (11 July to 29 August, 6 pm to 10 pm).
By the way: The regional buses in the region are included in the guest card, so guests can travel free of charge to the evening events in Waidring, Fieberbrunn and St. Ulrich am Pillersee and back.
Ice-cold refreshment, a round of beach volleyball or nature wellness? The Pillersee Valley promises plenty of variety with its numerous bathing opportunities: hardy bathing vixens jump into the crystal-clear waters of Lake Pillersee - the region's namesake has a maximum water temperature of 20 degrees. It can be pleasantly explored from a rowing boat or pedalo, or how about stand-up paddling? If you prefer it a little warmer, come to the Waidring bathing lake and open-air swimming pool. The large sunbathing lawn invites you to relax, and in between you can meet for a game of table tennis or beach volleyball. Meanwhile, the little ones feel right at home in the children's paddling pool. At the Lauchsee in Fieberbrunn, on the other hand, natural wellness is the order of the day: the muddy water is known for its healing and pain-relieving effects and offers a pleasant bathing experience with its warm temperatures already from June. Meanwhile, the kids can let off steam on the water trampoline and the children's playground. Admission to all three bathing lakes is included in the PillerseeTal Card.
One for all - on the road with the PillerseeTal Card: Take the mountain railway up to Jakob's Cross, ride the roller coaster in the Familienland adventure park or get to the bottom of the "secret of the Steinberg King" - no problem with the PillerseeTal Card. Holders of the holiday joker also hold the admission ticket to the region's main attractions, the mountain adventure worlds and mountain railways in their hands. The varied family and children's programme from July to September is also included in the advantage card. In the 6-day version with guest card, the PillerseeTal Card costs 87 euros for adults and 44 euros for children. The 4-day version costs 74 and 37 euros respectively. The 3-day card is available from 9 September, adults pay 66 euros on presentation of the guest card and children pay nothing. Children born in 2019 and younger are always free.
Sustainable from A to B - by bus, train and e-car: If you are on holiday in the Pillerseetal, you can simply leave your own car behind: When travelling by train, environmentally conscious guests are rewarded with a free taxi transfer to their accommodation and back (booking 72 hours before arrival via autofrei.tirol). In addition, the public Regiobus is included in the guest card for holidaymakers in the entire Pillerseetal valley as well as to Kitzbühel, Ellmau and Lofer, making it easy and environmentally friendly to reach your destination. With the guest card, you can travel right across the Kitzbühel Alps (from Hochfilzen to Wörgl or Kirchbichl) by S-Bahn and train (REX). By the way: The guest card, and thus the travel ticket, is given to holidaymakers directly by the landlord. Those who want to be even more independent on the road can rent an e-car from the tourism association and explore the region around the clock for a small fee according to their personal needs (reservation via the municipality of Fieberbrunn, Regio-Tech or the tourism association).
