Highlight of the Seefeld event calendar: on Saturday, 2 September and Sunday, 3 September 2023, the top sport lumberjacks will compete for the Austrian championship title and victory in the European Nations Cup. In addition to breathtaking sport, the audience can also expect a rich supporting programme - with free admission.
The STIHL TIMBERSPORTS® Series 2023 is heading towards its next highlight: this time, the epicentre of breathtaking sport lumberjack action is picturesque Seefeld in Tyrol. On Saturday and Sunday, 2 and 3 September, top athletes will meet here to compete in various sawing and chopping disciplines. And anyone who experienced last year's World Trophy on Vienna's Rathausplatz with thousands of enthusiastic fans knows: it's worth coming, exciting competitions and great entertainment are guaranteed. Austria's best will kick things offOnSaturday, 2 September, the Austrian championships are on the agenda: starting at 10 a.m., the women will demonstrate their skills with axe and saw in the Stock Saw, Single Buck and Underhand Chop disciplines (a detailed description can be found HERE). The title will be defended by Juliana Einfalt, who will face strong opposition from newcomer Johanna Loretz. Afterwards (11.30 am) it's the rookies' turn, before Austria's best take to the stage at 4 pm. The hunted here is Armin Kugler, serial champion since 2013, who will have to fend off strong domestic competition in all six TIMBERSPORTS® disciplines.
Nations Cup on Sunday: Europe's elite invite you to the big spectacle The huge spectacle will take place on Sunday in the form of the European Nations Cup. After the rookies, who will be competing for the trophies from 10 am, the European pros of the lumberjack scene will take to the stage at the Seefeld Congress Centre at 2 pm. 28 athletes from seven countries have qualified and will determine the winners in three disciplines with axe and saw. The winner will be the nation with the most points in a combined ranking of rookies and pros. in 2022 in Switzerland, the Scandinavian team with superstar Ferry Svan came out on top, ahead of Germany and Poland. The favourites for Seefeld have therefore been decided - but we'll have to wait and see how they cope with the mountain air at almost 1200 metres above sea level..
