The 44th edition of the Kirchtag attracted around 6000 visitors to the festival grounds.
Kramsach - After a break of several years, the open-air museum celebrated an impressive relaunch of its traditional Kirchtag last Sunday. Last held in 2019, this cultural highlight was marked by uncertainty and event suspensions. On 24 September, the museum's historic setting shone with new splendour as around 6000 participants and attendees gathered for this festive occasion.
The festivities for the 44th edition of the Kirchtag began with an impressive parade, led by the Kramsach Rifle Company, various music bands, guests of honour and the Kasedl women. The Wildschönauer Sturmlöda, in traditional costume and with their historical weapons, gave the event an authentic touch of old Tyrol.
The colourful hustle and bustle started with concerts by the music band. Visitors also had the opportunity to watch old handicraft techniques such as basket weaving and quill embroidery. Freshly baked cranberry dumplings and spanking cake sweetened the afternoon. Numerous music groups provided musical entertainment in the courtyards and on the grounds, and dance enthusiasts could let off steam on the green lawn or in the parlours.
The Kirchtag is not only about cultural exchange and culinary enjoyment, but above all about preserving the museum's historic buildings. With around 500 volunteers and the support of numerous associations, an important contribution is made to the protection and care of these unique farmsteads. The museum is open until 31 October.
