Mitfiebern und Mitfeiern: Spitzensportevents im Tiroler Winter 2023/24

Tirol is a magnet for world-class athletes. The heart of the Alps not only attracts mountain-loving holidaymakers, but also the elite of international sport. Year after year, outstanding athletes from all over the world gather here to compete at the highest sporting level in skiing, ski jumping and cross-country skiing, among others. An overview of the 2023/24 winter sports calendar in Tyrol:

AUDI FIS Ski World Cup Opening Sölden - 28 to 29 October 2023Söldencelebrates 30 years of the Ski World Cup: this year's winter starts in Ötztal for the 30th time with the AUDI FIS Ski World Cup Opening on the Rettenbach Glacier. At the end of October, the world's best ski racers will kick off the season with two giant slalom races - the women's race will start on Saturday, followed by the men's race on Sunday. Tickets for the anniversary event are already available.

AUDI FIS Ski World Cup Gurgl - 18 November 2023Forthe first time, Gurgl will be the venue for an AUDI FIS Ski World Cup. The men's slalom on the Kirchenkar slope in Hochgurgl will open this year's ski season in mid-November. The varied supporting programme from 16 to 19 November 2023 - including at the Gurgl Carat in Obergurgl and with DJs and ski guiding with top British racer Dave Ryding - rounds off the event for visitors.

FIS Freeski World Cup Stubai - 22 to 25 November 2023The FIS Freeski World Cup will be hosted on the Stubai Glacier for the seventh time in 2023 and will bring around 100 starters from 20 nations to Tyrol. The best of the scene will be there, including Olympic and world champions. They will show off their slopestyle skills in the Stubai Zoo Snowpark and compete for the first World Cup points of the season.

BMW IBU World Cup Biathlon Hochfilzen - 8 to 10 December 2023An absolutefixture in the biathlon calendar and highlight of the Pillerseetal region: the Biathlon World Cup in Hochfilzen. The world's best biathletes compete in the sprint, pursuit and relay for men and women. Visitors from all over the world will once again experience exciting races and a great supporting programme in the Kitzbühel Alps in December 2023.

AUDI FIS Ski World Cup Lienz - 28 to 29 December 2023Shortlybefore the turn of the year, ski racing returns to East Tyrol when the female ski racers compete for the best time on Lienz's Schlossberg. Two women's races are planned: The giant slalom will take place on 28 December 2023, followed by a slalom on 29 December 2023. Spectators will not only have the opportunity to enjoy the racing atmosphere, but can also explore the small town of Lienz.

Four Hills Tournament Bergisel Ski Jumping Innsbruck - 2 to 3 January 2024Thesporting event at the start of the year is undoubtedly the 72nd Four Hills Tournament, which traditionally takes place at the beginning of January on the Bergisel in Innsbruck. Fans can once again look forward to spectacular jumps from the world's best athletes. From the starting bar, the ski jumpers not only have an overwhelming view of the "witches' cauldron" full of fans, but also of Tyrol's capital city and the imposing mountain backdrop of the Nordkette.

Artificial track luge World Cup and European Luge Championships Igls - 13-14 January 2024Europe's best artificial track lugers will compete for the continental championship titlesonthe Olympic track in Innsbruck-Igls. The 55th European Luge Championships will be held as part of the fourth World Cup of the 2023/24 season. The competitions include singles and doubles for men and women as well as the team relay.

84. InternationalHahnenkamm Race Kitzbühel - 15 to 21 January 2024The International Hahnenkamm Race in Kitzbühel is undisputedly one of the highlights in the racing calendar for male skiers: at the 84th race weekend, fans can look forward to an exciting premiere in the World Cup next year: A team combination will be held for the first time on Friday. A downhill skier and a slalom skier from the same nation will compete together to win the combined event. The downhill on the legendary Streif then traditionally follows on Saturday, before the slalom racers show off their skills in the grand finale on Sunday.

FIS Nordic Combined Triple Seefeld - 2 to 4 February 2024For threedays at the beginning of February 2024, Seefeld will once again be the hotspot of Nordic skiing. For the eleventh time, the world's best combined skiers will meet at the Nordic Combined Triple in one of the most renowned cross-country skiing destinations in the Alps and compete not only for victory, but also for double World Cup points. Thanks to the captivating competition format, the tension remains constantly high for both the athletes and the fans right up to the final race on Sunday. After last year's premiere, the women will also be competing again on Friday and Saturday.

Freeride World Tour Fieberbrunn - March 2024Spectaculardescents from world-class freeriders await fans at the Freeride World Tour in the week from 12 to 18 March 2024. Traditionally, the battle for the world championship title is decided in Fieberbrunn, the only German-speaking stop on the tour - on the steep and rocky northern slope of the Wildseeloder. For the world's elite freeriders, this means a 40-minute ascent before they have to plunge from the 2,118 metre high summit into a slope with an incline of up to 70 degrees and 620 metres of altitude. A spectacle for athletes and spectators alike!
