The three pillars of sustainability can be found at Kitzbühel Tourism not only in the strategy, but also very concretely in the advertising measures. For example, the outdoor advertising is produced in a CO2-neutral way and then offered as an upcycled bag in the KitzShop.
CO2-neutral outdoor advertising
Kitzbühel Tourism relies on long-standing partners to promote the destination. In cooperation with the Viennese company "Werbewand", only campaigns without a CO2 footprint are produced. From energy-saving LED lighting to PVC-free tarpaulins to the complete recycling of large-scale advertising subjects, every life cycle of these campaigns is optimised for sustainability. Any remaining greenhouse gas footprints are offset through climate protection projects.
A recent study confirms the relevance of CO2-neutral advertising: 84 per cent of Austrians consider it important that advertising meets sustainable criteria, such as the use of environmentally friendly advertising materials or the recycling of the same. This is also in line with the attitude of Kitzbühel Tourism Managing Director Dr. Viktoria Veider-Walser: "Our goal is to create awareness for a respectful approach to nature and not only to position ourselves as a sustainable tourism destination, but also to take concrete measures on an ongoing basis."
Upcycling goes KitzShop
The PVC-free tarpaulins and nets used in the campaigns of Kitzbühel Tourism, which recently served as a destination advertisement next to St. Stephen's Cathedral in Vienna, are being upcycled in cooperation with "Die Nahtstelle - Das Nählabor", part of the non-profit organisation 4everyoung.at, into beautiful, practical and, above all, high-quality bags and versatile pencil cases.
Depending on the subject size, for example, 100 handmade bags are produced. These unique items are now available in the KitzShop at Hinterstadt 18 in Kitzbühel or online 24/7 at shop.kitzbuehel.com.
